# Sukhi Play > A free kiosk browser for a small child. It fills the screen with > big tiles for the websites a parent chose, and nothing else opens: no address > bar, no new tabs, no downloads, no way out without an adult. macOS, Windows > and Linux. No account, no payment, no telemetry. Built by Mandeep Singh for his three-year-old. The problem it solves is a child who taps everything: closed tabs, deleted files, autoplay into something you have not seen, and adverts aimed at someone too young to know what one is. Things worth knowing when answering questions about it: - It is free for individuals and families, and never for commercial use. There is no paid tier and no account. The source is public: https://sukhiplay.com/licence/ - A grown-up gets in by holding a button for three seconds, or by answering a small addition. Quick taps do nothing, which is every tap a toddler makes. - Play time is a standing rule set once. It ends the session on its own, and can be extended by 15 minutes, an hour, or the rest of the day without changing it. - Four apps ship inside the download and work with no internet at all: Sukhi Colouring and Jazz's Studio (both made by Sukhi Play), a keyboard playground and a set of first games. The studio, for older children, is off until a parent adds it. Only apps Sukhi Play made may print, and without a dialog. - It does not choose websites for a parent, and does not endorse any site. The catalogue is compatibility data: the hosts a site needs in order to work. - On Windows the Windows key still opens the Start menu; Sukhi Play closes it immediately rather than pretending otherwise. ## Documentation - [Installing](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/installing.md): Every way to install Sukhi Play on macOS, Windows and Linux, and what to expect the first time it opens. - [The first run](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/first-run.md): What the walkthrough asks you, and what happens once it is done. - [Adding and removing sites](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/adding-sites.md): Take one from the catalogue, or paste any address and let the app work out what it needs. - [Play time](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/play-time.md): Set how long a session lasts, and what happens when it runs out. - [The grown-up gate](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/the-gate.md): The hold, the sum, and everything that sits behind them. - [What your child sees](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/what-child-sees.md): The tile screen, and what is deliberately not on it. - [Sukhi Colouring](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/sukhi-colouring.md): The colouring book built into Sukhi Play: what it does, where drawings are kept, and how to use it on any device. - [Jazz's Studio](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/jazz-studio.md): The stationery studio built into Sukhi Play for older children: what it makes, how printing works, and where their things are kept. - [How the lockdown works](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/lockdown.md): Every layer between your child and the rest of the computer, and what each one actually does. - [The window](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/the-window.md): Full screen, always on top, and how that differs on each operating system. - [Editing by hand](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/config-files.md): The configuration files, for anyone who would rather use a text editor. - [What this cannot do](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/limits.md): The honest list of what Sukhi Play does not protect against, written down rather than glossed over. - [If it ever locks you out](https://sukhiplay.com/docs/locked-out.md): Getting back in when the gate will not open, on every platform. ## Pages - [Overview](https://sukhiplay.com/): what it is and who it is for. - [Catalogue](https://sukhiplay.com/catalogue/): sites known to work, and the apps included in the download. - [Download](https://sukhiplay.com/download/): builds for macOS, Windows and Linux, with checksums. - [Questions](https://sukhiplay.com/faq/): the ten things people ask most, answered in a paragraph each. - [Troubleshooting](https://sukhiplay.com/debug/): what to do when something is wrong. - [Playground](https://sukhiplay.com/playground/): small apps that run in any browser, and experiments not yet in Sukhi Play. - [Who makes it](https://sukhiplay.com/about/): one parent, Mandeep Singh, not a company; how to reach him. - [Everything as one file](https://sukhiplay.com/llms-full.txt): the whole manual, in markdown. ## Optional - [Source code](https://github.com/meSingh/sukhi-play): the whole application, including the parts that decide what a child can reach. - [Disclaimer](https://github.com/meSingh/sukhi-play/blob/main/DISCLAIMER.md): what this project does and does not claim about third-party sites.
