Sukhi Play

Who makes it

One parent, making things for his children

I am Mandeep Singh. I built Sukhi Play for my son, and I keep making things for him and his sister. Other families are welcome to everything.

No companyOne person. No investors, no staff, nothing to sell.
No advertsNot in the app, not in the playground, not on this site.
Nothing collectedNo account. The app sends nothing about your child anywhere.
Code in publicEvery line, including what decides what a child can reach.

Why it exists

My son Sukhraj, Sukhi to everyone, was three and wanted to play games on my laptop. He also pressed every key and clicked every button he could reach, which meant adverts, popups, new tabs, and eventually my work.

I wanted to hand him the laptop and stop watching over his shoulder. So I built a screen where pressing every key is perfectly safe: the sites I chose, as big tiles, and nothing else. That became Sukhi Play.

What it grew into

His sister Jazz is ten and loves stationery, so she got Jazz's Studio. Sukhi got a colouring book of his own, and now a railway I am still testing with him and a chase game, my newest experiment. The studio and the colouring book work in any browser and inside Sukhi Play, with no internet; the railway and the chase game stay on the website until children show they love them.

How to reach me

The best way is an issue on GitHub: a bug, a site that does not work, or how an experiment went with your child. There is more about me at msingh.com.

It began with a three-year-old who pressed every key and clicked every button. So Mandeep built a screen where pressing all of them is perfectly safe.
