Sukhi Play

Play time

Set how long a session lasts, and what happens when it runs out.

Set a session length on the Play time tab of the grown-up screen: any number of minutes up to four hours, or no limit at all. It is a standing rule, not a decision you make each time — the clock starts again every time Sukhi Play opens.

Your child sees no countdown while they play. It appears only in the last thirty seconds, or the last ten on a session of five minutes or less, so there is nothing to watch or bargain with. When the time is up they get a stop screen and nothing else opens.

Giving more time

From the stop screen your child can ask, and only a grown-up can answer: the same hold or sum as anywhere else, and then a choice of fifteen minutes, an hour, or the rest of the day.

Whatever you grant applies to that session only. Your usual limit does not move, so giving an hour today does not quietly make every day an hour. The next time the app opens it starts from your rule again.

If you would rather not grant anything, the stop screen also has a way out for a grown-up to close Sukhi Play. The clock is counted in the main process, never in the page: a site your child is on shares that page’s process, and a clock a game could stop is not a clock. The gate and the portal pause it, so setting up a new site does not spend your child’s afternoon.

It is a session, not a day. Nothing is stored between runs, because a stored daily total invites the question “what counts as a day”, and answering it wrongly means telling a two-year-old their time is gone at breakfast.

Made with ♥ by Mandeep Singh,
for his cheeky little Sukhraj.

It began with a three-year-old who pressed every key and clicked every button. So Mandeep built a screen where pressing all of them is perfectly safe.
